The short version

Your measurements, your photos and your location stay on your device. We never upload them, and we have no server that could receive them. We do collect anonymous crash reports and usage statistics so we can fix problems and see which features are used.

Information the app uses on your device only

Location. GeoMeasure reads your GPS position to place points on the map, to follow you while you walk a boundary, and to show your compass heading. Location is used while you are using the app. It is processed on your device and is never sent to us.

Photos you attach. Photos you attach to a measurement are stored on your device, inside the app's own storage. They are not uploaded. They leave your device only when you choose to share or export a measurement, and then only to wherever you send it.

Your measurements. Names, points, areas, groups and notes are saved on your device.

Settings. Your unit preferences and similar choices are stored in your device's app preferences.

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number or contacts.

Information that is collected

Crash reports — Firebase Crashlytics (Google). When the app crashes, a report is sent containing the type of crash, where in the code it happened, your device model and iOS version. It is not linked to your identity.

Usage statistics — Firebase Analytics (Google). Anonymous events such as which screens are opened and which tools are used, together with an app-instance identifier, your device model, iOS version and approximate region. This tells us which features matter. It is not linked to your identity.

Google processes this data as our service provider. See Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy

Street View imagery — Google Maps (only if you use Street View). When you open Street View, the coordinates of the point you picked are sent to Google so it can return the imagery for that place. This happens only when you use that feature.

Purchases — Apple. Subscriptions and the one-off Remove Ads purchase are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, card number or Apple Account.

Advertising — Google AdMob. The free version of the app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To request an ad, Google receives your device's advertising identifier, your approximate location (from your IP address, not from GPS), your device model and iOS version, and which ads you have seen or tapped. Google uses this to choose which ad to show and to measure whether it worked.

Before any of that happens the app asks two things:

If you would rather see no ads at all, the app sells a one-off Remove Ads purchase, and a Pro subscription also turns them off. With either of those the ad code never runs and nothing above is sent.

What we never do

Keeping it

Everything on your device stays until you delete it, or until you delete the app, which removes all of it. Advertising data is held by Google under its own retention rules, described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads Crash reports and usage statistics are kept by Google's Firebase services according to their retention settings — typically up to 14 months for analytics events and 90 days for crash reports.

Your choices

Children

GeoMeasure is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
